Meet Wendy Thomas
Committed to fighting for clean water standards, Wendy was named one of the original "water warriors" who took the fight to the multi-billion dollar French conglomerate St. Gobain after they poisoned Merrimack's water supply with PFAS contaminants.
After years of seeing Merrimack Republican state reps. sitting on their hands, Wendy took the fight for clean water to the State House after winning the 2018 election. In the past two years alone, she has co-sponsored bills providing funding for PFAS blood tests, strengthening clean water standards, and holding St. Gobain accountable for taking advantage of Merrimack's position as a small town.
She currently serves on the House Resources, Recreation, and Development Committee. At the county level, Rep. Thomas serves on the Hillsborough County Executive Council and UNH Cooperative Extension Hillsborough County Advisory Council.
Rep. Thomas was also appointed to the Protecting Unprotected Water Sources Legislative Committee and Commission on the Environmental and Public Health Impacts of Perfluorinated Chemicals
Rep. Thomas is the State Director of the Women in Government organization, and the NH State Lead for the National Caucus of Environmental Legislators.
She has spoken at many events, including an Earth Day celebration and many boy and girl scout troop meetings. She was a panelist at the MLK Poor People’s Campaign discussion in Manchester NH.
She was awarded the "Excellence in the Workplace" award in 2018 by the Merrimack Rotary club.
She was chosen as a potential Delegate for Elizabeth Warren, and is a member of the Progressive Caucus in the NH House.
In Merrimack, Rep. Thomas serves as a library trustee and member of the Ethics Committee.
She is the founder of the Saint-Gobain Merrimack Community Advisory Council.
